'''Private Jim''' is one of the deceased characters of ''[[Killing Floor]]''. Players can often find his [[Combat armour]] on the ground, looking at the nametag on the top-left on the vest, the name read there is Pvt. Jim making it obvious that he is deceased. He is believed to be one of the members of the military army who was sent by the government, however, like the plot of Killing Floor, it did not take long for the first army to get completely annihilated as they did not know what to expect from these [[specimen]]s. He too was probably killed by the rampaging specimens and therefore, his vest found on the ground. Adding more points to this conclusion, Private is also the lowest class of all military armies and as the vest states (Pvt. Jim), Jim was a Private and was probably in the first army, and as written above, the first army was exterminated by the specimens with absolutely no challenge at all. All vests found on the ground or strangely, even bought from the [[Trader]] will have his name on it if seen from the picture, but it is not as clear as the one found on the ground.

'''Potato Fools Day''' was a promotional scavenger hunt arranged by Valve, to promote Portal 2, during the time surrounding April 1<sup>st</sup>, 2011. ''[[Killing Floor]]'' was one of thirteen indie games participating in the event. Among the changes and additions to ''Killing Floor'' during the update were a potato on the weapons list, the character biographies, and several achievements.

The potato added to the Trader weapon list cost £70,000 to buy and provided the achievement {{rl|Uber Tuber}} to all players and spectators in the game upon purchase, providing the user wasn't on solo and only used whitelisted content. The game also opened a Steam browser page to the Aperture Science login page, to which the password was "failed experiments". The player didn't actually gain any sort of potato weapon to attack specimens with upon its purchase.

The model of dropped money was also changed to a potato.

=== Buying the potato ===

In order to legitimately acquire the £70,000 required to purchase the potato one of the following situations could have been used:

*Playing on beginner difficulty on a listen server, not solo. You must collect as much as you can weapons on map in the current round and drop them in front of the Trader's door in single heap. You can leave a last Clot alive and then exploring map and find weapons. Then you must hurry up and sell all the weapons in the stack in trading time. 2-3 Players can collect enough money in 4 rounds.

*Playing on beginner difficulty on a listen server, not solo, with the [http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showthread.php?t=37788&highlight=faked+players faked players mutator] enabled, set to 99 players, as a level 6 [[Berserker]]. Since there will be 800 specimens per wave all other classes will have ammunition issues.

*Leaving a single weak specimen alive at the end of a wave and healing a team mate as it damages them for the healing money. This tactic takes a very long time, and can also be used in conjunction with leveling the [[Field Medic]] perk.

*Playing on the map [http://www.box.net/shared/3zzetj8fhk HeresyBeta3], due to it having a money room.

*Playing on [http://www.gamebanana.com/maps/98355 Perklevelingultra], due to its money room, can get you the achievement in under three minutes.

Of the six achievements originally added only one was originally achievable; Uber Tuber, for buying the potato. The other five were cyphertexts encoded using the Enigma cypher. These five cypher achievements were later changed into the level achievements for [[Aperture]], and ''Not ASCII'' was changed to ''Glyphy'' with the description ''Glyph Glyph'' and later to the ''Golden Potato'' achievement.

== Character biographies ==

Another change to the game was the character biographies, which were changed during the April 4th update. During the April 8th update all but the biographies of DJ Scully, Mr Foster, and Paramedic Alfred Anderson were removed. The biographies for DJ Scully, Mr Foster, and Paramedic Alfred Anderson were encoded messages. DJ Scully's being in [[wikipedia:Base64|base64]] for "the writer", Mr Foster's being a cypher, and Alfred Anderson's being [[wikipedia:Hexadecimal|hexadecimal]] code for "Alien 8 It. 2074 -4629 17". Following the April 12th update all character biographies were reverted back to normal except for Mr Foster and Paramedic Alfred Anderson. The biographies were as follows:

Once you have bought the pack, they become selectable in-game through the character selection screen. The pack was first introduced on the 7<sup>th</sup> of October 2010 in the [[Updates#Date: 7th October 2010, 1014|1014]] update. The characters included are Harold Hunt, Kerry Fitzpatrick, Trooper Clive Jenkins and Paramedic Alfred Anderson who each come with a unique appearance and back story but share the two voice actor profiles as all other characters. During the April 1<sup>st</sup> update their biographies were changed, with the note in the change log mentioning #PotatoFoolsDay!

El '''Pirómano''', como su nombre sugiere, sobresale blandiendo el poderoso [[Lanzallamas]] así como las balas incendiarias de la [[MAC-10/es|MAC-10]]. La clase está orientada al uso de estas armas, alternando sus granadas para causar daño de fuego, sin obtener beneficio en ninguna otra arma del juego.

El Lanzallamas, mientras que es devastador de cerca en cualquier clase, tiene un número de desventajas para las otras clases difíciles de compensar. Los no Pirómanos encontrarán la falta de rango un problema, así como la baja cadencia de fuego contra enemigos más duros, como los [[Gorefast/es|Gorefasts]] y los [[Scrake/es|Scrakes]]. Además, el Lanzallamas ocupa 10 bloques de peso en el inventario, permitiendo sólo a los [[Médicos de campaña]] usar además su arma primaria. El Pirómano, por otra parte, disfrutará un gran aumento en rango y de granadas incendiarias desde el nivel 3 en adelante, mayor daño para destrozar a la mayoría de los grupos de enemigos con facilidad, y resistencia al fuego. Un Pirómano a nivel 4 con chaleco no sufrirá daño por fuego, y encontrará que su chaleco permanece intacto. '''Perks''' are the playable classes of ''[[Killing Floor]]''. There are a total of seven different perks, all with different specialisations, these being [[Field medic]], [[Support specialist]], [[Sharpshooter]], [[Commando]], [[Berserker]], [[Firebug]] and [[Demolition]]. Each perk has seven levels of experience, from 0 to 6. Experience is gained by performing certain actions, the most common of which being to deal damage with weapons specific to that perk but also includes other actions like welding or healing. When enough experience points have been gained a player will level up in that perk and gain additional benefits for doing so. The perk and level of a player is detailed on the [[head-up display]] as an image and a number of stars. Players using perks at level 0 to 5 will have a red icon and a number of red stars equivalent to their level. Players at level 6 will have a gold icon and a single gold star. Players using the Field Medic perk gain bonuses with the [[medical syringe]], and [[combat armour]]; as well as the [[MP7M]], [[MP5M]], [[M7A3]], and [[Schneidzekk]] medic guns. They also get increased movement speed, resistance to [[Bloat]] bile, and more effective armor. Due to the nature of the perk, Field Medics are free to use virtually any weapon alongside their medic guns. The Field Medic's main job is to maintain the health of other players and they gain experience from doing just that; healing. The movement speed increase allows medics to catch up with other players, except [[Berserker]]s, to quickly get within range to heal and to avoid direct danger, such as larger specimens which they may be poorly equipped to deal with. The discounts that medics get on [[combat armour]] allows them to buy it alongside their other equipment earlier on, allowing them to take advantage of their increased damage soaking ability with the armour.

Reload speed, ammo capacity (both loaded and total), range, price, and damage of the flamethrower and the Husk Fireball Launcher all receive improvements. Players also get resistance to fire and incendiary grenades instead of frag grenades. Firebugs excel at dealing constant damage to groups of specimens but at higher difficulties can struggle with more powerful specimens.
